Graduation with Resilience to Achieve Sustainable Development (GRAD) is a USAID-funded project through CARE Ethiopia that aims to support the livelihood options of chronically food insecure households in Ethiopia. The project emphasizes resilient strategies related to nutrition, gender, and climate change adaptation, aspiration to graduation, learning and dissemination of the lessons that work in lifting households (HH) out of extreme poverty.
The total budget of the project has been US$ 23,400,000.00. The goal for GRAD is to contribute significantly to sustained food security for chronically and transitory food insecure households in rural Ethiopia. The program intends to reach 65,000 PSNP HHs directly with the strategic objective of graduating 50,000 chronically food insecure HHs from PSNP food support in the 16 targeted Woredas and increase each HH’s income by $365/ year by the end of the project period.
ORDA has been carrying 30 developmental projects to improve the livelihood of the people in the Amhara region. In this regard, ORDA-GRAD funded by USAID through CARE Ethiopia played a significant role to help PSNP woredas come out from extreme poverty.

Many years ago, while a mother carrying her son on back tried to cross river Ayrara; however, the sudden increment and bursting of the river snatched her son. She furiously shouted and mourned at it to return her son back. Nevertheless, it didn’t hesitate to give her son back. This time she cursed, shocked and named it "Ayrara" which means cruel/malicious/.
The Organization for Rehabilitation and Development in Amhara (ORDA) is a dependable partner of the region in developing modern irrigation schemes. The toughest Ayrara irrigation project, located in Ankober Woreda of North Shewa, can potentially irrigate 110 hectares benefiting 196 male and 96 female headed households.

ORDA covers over 1,300 hectares of land
Degraded lands & mountains are getting rehabilitated
The Organization for Rehabilitation and Development in Amhara (ORDA) greening project verified that more than 4.3 million seedlings are planted.
Natural Resources Development Program manager, Ato Getachew Alamiraw, claimed ORDA has been carrying out plantation for more than a decade. Greening project is being implemented and an area of over 1,300 hectares of land is covered in selected districts of Gidan, Habru and Raya Kobo of North Wollo zone. The manager reminded 4.12 million seedlings had been planted in 1,700 hectares of land last year and it has a seedling survival of only 37.5 %. According to Getachew the workshop conducted before the planting season among heads of the zone, woreda and kebele, concerned stakeholders of office of agriculture & environmental protection supported to establish better team spirit and fruitfully carryout greening in the area. It is noted that if rainfall sustains as required and stakes accomplish their responsibilities, seedling survival is supposed to be improved.

የአማራ መልሶ መቋቋምና ልማት ድርጅት (አመልድ) ሁሉ-አቀፍ የስነ-ጽዳት ፕሮግራም ጽ/ቤት የእጅ መታጠብ ቀንን በአለም አቀፍ ደረጃ ለ8ኛ ጊዜ እንዲሁም በሃገር አቀፍ ደረጃ ለ7ኛ ጊዜ በባህር ዳር ከተማ ሚሌኒየም አደባባይ በድምቀት አክብሯል፡፡

የ2007/2008 ዕቅድ አፈጻጸምና የ2008/2009 ዕቅድ ትውውቅ ተካሄደ
የአማራ መልሶ መቋቋምና ልማት ድርጅት (አመልድ) የ2007/2008 ዕቅድ አፈጻጸምና 2008/2009 በባህር ዳር ከተማ ከመጋቢት 30-ሚያዝያ 2/2008 ዓ.ም አካሂዷል፡፡
ዋና ዳይሬክተሩ ዶ/ር አምላኩ አስረስ የድርጅቱን ዓመታዊ አፈጻጸም ሲያቀርቡ በ2007 ዓ.ም ከ27 ዓለም አቀፍ ለጋሽ ድርጅቶችና ከ4 ቢሮዎች በአጠቃላይ 31 የልማት ድርጅቶች በተገኘ የገንዘብ ድጋፍ 1.69 ሚሊዮን ህዝብን ተጠቃሚ አድርጓል ብለዋል፡፡
ዋና ዳይሬክተሩ ከሳይንሳዊ የልማት መርህ ጋር አያይዘው እንደገለጹት ድርጅቱ በአሁኑ ሰዓት ጥሩ መሻሻሎች መኖራቸው አውስተው በቀጣይ የኪራይ ሰብሳቢነት አመለካከትና ተግባራትን በማዳከም ልማታዊ አስተሳሰብን ለማጎልበት የሚያስችሉ ተግባራትን ማጠናከር እንደሚገባ ተናግረዋል፡፡
ደርጅቱ በቀጣይ ከ ”NGO” ጥገኝነት ተላቆ የራሱን የገቢ ማስገኛ ተቋማትን ለማደራጀት ከመቼውም ጊዜ በተሻለ ርብርብ እያደረገ እንደሆነም ዶ/ር አምላኩ ገልጸዋል፡፡ በተለይ በዚህ ዓመት የተከሰተዉ ድርቅ በህይወት ላይ የከፋ ጉዳት እንዳያደርስና በእንስሳትና በንብረት ላይ የደረሰዉም ጉዳት እንዲያገግም ለማድረግ በርካታ ስራዎች በመከናወን ላይ ይገኛሉ፡፡ እስካሁን በተደረገዉ ጥረትም ለድርቅ መቋቋሚያ ሥራዎች ማስፈፀሚያ ምግብ አስተዳደር፣ ውሃ መቆፈር፣ የድርቅ መቋቋሚያ ኘሮጀክቶችን ከለጋሽ ድርጅቶች 108 ሚሊዮን ብር በማሰባሰብ የምግብ እህል ከመርዳት ባሻገር 27 ሺህ ኩንታል ዘር ከ9 ሺህ በላይ አርሶ አደሮች እንዲሰራጭ ተደርጓል፡፡
የድርጅቱ ዋና የትኩረት መስኮች ተለይተው ከመንግስት የእድገትና ትራንስፎርሜሽን ዕቅድ ጋር እንዲጣጣም ተደርጎ የድርጅቱ ስትራቴጅክ ዕቅድ (2016-2020) እንደተዘጋጀም የሃብት ልማት ፕሮግራም ዳይሬክተሩ አቶ ሽመልስ ሙሃመድ አብራርተዋል፡፡
በመሆኑም የግብርና ምርታማነትን በማሳደግ፣ ዘላቂነት ያለው የተፈጥሮ ሃብት ስራ በማከናወን፣ የንጹህ መጠጥ ውሃና መስኖ አውታሮችን በመዘርጋት የሴቶችንና ስራ አጥ ወጣቶችን ወደ ስራ ለማስገባት የተያዘውን ዕቅድ ለመፈጸም በቁርጠኝነት መረባረብ እንደሚገባ የድርጅቱ ከፍተኛ ኃላፊዎች አሳስበዋል፡፡
