An agreement was signed to implement the second phase of Joint Emergency Operation program (JEOP 2.0).

To save people's lives and assets from natural and man-made disasters in the Amhara region, ORDA Ethiopia, in collaboration with the Catholic Relief Service (CRS), has implemented the first phase of Joint Emergency Operation (JEOP 1.0) in North Wollo and Waghemra zone for the past several years with the support of the American people and the government. It is reported that it is being implemented in 15 woredas.

Now, an agreement was signed between ORDA Ethiopia and the Catholic Relief Service (CRS) to implement, the second Phase of Joint emergency operation (JEOP 2.0) for the next five years, from May 2023 to April 2027, in 11 woredas of North Wollo zone and four woredas of Waghmera zone.

During the agreement, ORDA Ethiopia's Executive Director, Alemayehu Wassie (Ph.D.), said that the agreement has many benefits for the people in the mentioned 15 woredas of Amhara region to save the life of people caused by natural and man-made causes. He added that the program has been running since July 2012 and has saved the lives of millions of people who were displaced due to the recent war in the northern part of the country and due to natural and man-made disasters that happened in the region.

According to the project agreement, the first fiscal year will have 50,833.5 metric tons (MT) of food grain/oil (44,985 Mt of wheat; 4,498.5 Mt yellow split pea, 1,350 Mt of edible oil). It is mentioned in the agreement that it has been allocated a budget of USD8,093.407 to be used for the transportation of the food commodity and for other related expenses.
