ORDA Colorfully Convened its 11th Ordinary General Assembly Meeting

ORDA colorfully convened its 11th General Assembly Meeting on March 26th, 2017 at Grand Resort and Spa, Bahir Dar. Present at the meeting were governmental and regional higher officials and leaders, representatives of development organizations, influential and known individuals.

ORDAs project target beneficiary farmers, board and management committee members, participated in the general assembly meeting as members and participants.

The guest of honor H.E. Ato Gedu Andargachew, President of the Regional Government at his opening remarks said that, “When compared with the development endeavours of ORDA, it is not exaggerating to say that it is a school for best developmental practices in the region.” He further noted that, “Achievements in potable water supply and irrigation development, forest development, soil and water conservation are green monumental witnesses of ORDAs development programs in the region.”

Earlier H.E. Ato Ahmed Abitew, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ORDA in his welcoming address reiterated that the secret behind the achievements registered by ORDA were the results of sincere collaborations and genuine involvement of the communities, the local government, donors, and other stakeholders at all levels.

Honorable Dr. Amlaku Asres Executive Director of ORDA on his welcoming address said that, ORDA in its 32 years of success stories of development it has benefited over five million people. Dr. Amlaku further noted that ORDA has been implementing 65 extensive integrated development projects in 2016 alone in collaboration with development partners, donors, and its target communities in 64 woredas of the region benefiting over 1.7 million people.

The meeting, next dwelt on the presentation of the Executive Director of ORDA Honorable Dr. Amlaku Asres on the 2014-2016 three years performance report. The meeting extensively discussed and unanimously endorsed the three years report after making sure that the report includes the 2016 annual report of ORDA.

The meeting in its third Agenda discussed on the external Auditors report. The audit report was presented by Zemedhun and its Audit Firm representative. The meeting unanimously endorsed the report After having discussed on the audit report and unanimously endorsed the report as unqualified audit report and ensured that the financial expenditure has been executed in accordance with the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

The third Agenda of the Meeting has been ORDAs 2017 plan and budget. The plan and budget was presented in details by Ato Setual Debalke, Deputy Executive Director, and Enterprises Development. After discussing on the plan and budget, the meeting has agreed that the plan would undoubtedly bring about impact on the region and endorsed unanimously the 2017 plan and budget for the year 2017.

Finally, according to the article of Association of ORDA the board members who have served for two terms of election or who have served more than 8 years shall be replaced through election by the General Assembly. Accordingly, three new General Assembly management committee members and eight Boards of Directors were elected by the General Assembly. The newly elected Board of Directors has also been delegated by the General Assembly to opt for one board of director based on the merits and professionalism of the individual to be opted; and finally the meeting was fruitfully adjourned at 5:30.pm local time.
