Libo Kemkem/ICD Phase I Program Performance (2019 to 2021) and 2022 Plan Orientation Held
ORDA Ethiopia’s Integrated Community Development (ICD) Program, fund by A Glimmer of Hope Foundation with a total budget of over birr 98.3 million, improved the lives of beneficiaries.
The program aims to contribute for an improved wellbeing of target communities living in nine kebeles of Libo kemkem woreda (from 2019 to 2021) through implementing selected agricultural value-chain, commodities, WaSH and nutrition components. It was implemented in 9 Kebeles in the woreda, namely Agla, Derita, Tara Gedam, Ginaza, Yifag Akababi, Yifag Town, Shina, Bura and Angot.
This program covered Birr 89.2 million for integrated community livelihoods development, Birr 2.19 million for school girls club & menstrual hygiene management to diminish dropout, and 6.9 million for WaSH activities.
It benefited 4 thousand households in livelihood component.
Major programmatic achievements from 2019 -2021:
- Developed 84 water schemes and benefited 21, 165 people.
- Constructed 2 irrigation schemes which irrigate 169 hectares & trained farmers on agronomic practices.
- Reduced water fetching distance and time.
- Improved saving and loan services in local financial institution/RuSaCCos.
- Increased awareness on feeding improved nutrition for children, pregnant, and lactating women.
- Established 265 Village Economic & Social Association (VESAs), saved 1.42 million birr & 1.32 million birr loan disbursed.
- 788 Washera ram & goat distributed and earned 9,365 improved shoat ewes.
Major interventions in 2022 were also presented and held a thorough discussion. Participants from Zonal & Woreda Administration, concerned sectoral office heads and experts, farmers, RuSaCCOs, ADA, ORDA Ethiopia, A Glimmer of Hope participated in the review & planning workshop.
